The
Rome Open was finally announced on Monday, featuring some mouthwatering clashes to take place over the next few weeks. The competition will be played in Italy’s capital from May 07-19, and players
from all over the world will participate and battle to secure the ultimate
prize.
Like every year, the fans are keen to find out which players will likely clash at the business end of the competition. This year in
Rome, the potential semifinal lineup is fascinating in the women’s
singles category. The potential last-four clash will see a clash between the world number one Poland’s
Iga Swiatek against America’s
Coco Gauff, whereas, in the other semifinal, it could feature the world number two
Aryna Sabalenka taking on the world number four Elena Rybakina.
If the semifinal takes place according to the expectation,
it will be the 11th time Swiatek will face Gauff. In the
previous 10 outings, the Polish tennis star had a clear advantage
with nine wins and just one defeat. On the other hand, it will be the 10th
meeting between Sabalenka and Rybakina if the two meet in the last-four clash.
In the previous nine meetings, the current world number two had a
clear edge with six wins and just three defeats.
