Garbine Muguruza continues her disappointing year by pulling out of the first tournament of the US Open swing in the form of the
Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic.
Muguruza was set to face Camila Giorgi in a standout first round clash on Monday but as per the tournament organisers, she had arrived in San Jose but has since withdrawn due to injury.
This compounds a disappointing season for the two-time Grand Slam champion ever since winning the WTA Finals last year which has seen indifferent form often from a winning position and also injury.
The statement also reads that she hopes to be ready for the National Bank Open next week which is a WTA 1000 tournament which could mean this withdrawal is more down to caution.
