Tamara Korpatsch has become the latest new winner on the WTA Tour sealing a maiden crown at the 2023 Transylvania Open in Cluj-Napoca on Sunday evening.
Korpatsch who defeated Eva Lys yesterday in an all German semi-final had an even bigger task in the final and rose to it with great success. The World No.105 was facing Elena-Gabriela Ruse.

She won 70 percent of points returning the Ruse second serve which allowed her to seal 6/10 break points in the match which proved a vital factor.
Ruse herself got off to a superb start in the match going 3-0 up, but Korpatsch grew into it and reeled off six consecutive games for the set.
Ruse had injury issues in the second taking multiple visits to the trainer, but Korpatsch wasn't to be derailed and led 5-2 from 2-2 and served for the match. Ruse kept involved though and made it 5-4 only for the German not to be denied on her first championship chance.
