The Swiss Indoors is the last opportunity for tennis players to compete in an ATP 500 tournament this year, alongside the Vienna Open, which is played simultaneously. The Basel Open is one of the historical tournaments, having been played practically since the beginning of the Open Era, with its first edition in 1975.

It has maintained its significance over the years for being a consistent fixture on the calendar of the now-retired Roger Federer, who claimed the title 10 times in 15 finals.

The defending champion is Felix Auger Aliassime, who defeated Holger Rune in the 2022 final with a score of 6-3, 7-5. Both players will be present this year, with the Danish player as the top seed and the Canadian as the sixth seed.

The tournament also features other top-level players on the Tour, including Taylor Fritz, Hubert Hurkacz, Andy Murray, Casper Ruud, and Sebastian Korda, among others.
