Garbine Muguruza and
Paula Badosa are two Spanish player at the
WTA Finals and Muguruza feels it will inspire girls in Spain.
Tennis players take their roles and role models quite seriously and Garbine Muguruza is no different. The Spanish player spoke many times about her desire to inspire younger generations to pick up the racquet and carry on Spanish tradition in the sport of tennis. Seeing herself and another Spanish player in the finals (Badosa) is a good thing.
Speaking on that she said:
"It's been 21 years since two players from Spain qualified. This is
going to motivate young girls from Spain, Latin America. They can
relate, hear us talk, get a more familiar feeling of tennis, not always
seeing foreign players. This time they can be more close to us."
Her compatriot Paula Badosa also admitted that playing at the WTA Finals was a longtime dream of hers. She said:
"It would mean a lot. I was talking two days ago with my team, I
was super excited. I want to go there. I've
always seen the Finals on TV and imagine me going there? I was super
excited."
She further said:
"I was getting excited, like, I have to take a dress to go
there. So imagine, I was like a little girl, you know? And I'm lucky
that I have a good relationship with almost all of them, so it's even
nicer."
