The seven-time Grand Slam quarter-finalist wants to put in her best as she represents her country for the last time in the Fed Cup 2020.
The 31-year-old is determined to put in her best and help her country challenge for a sixth Fed Cup crown when the Finals roll around.
Navarro said she's always liked playing for Spain but her the surface or her schedule has always been a hinderance. However, she has no intention of missing her last chance to represent to play for her country.
“I always like playing with Spain, but sometimes the calendar or the surface doesn’t work for me,” Suarez Navarro
told fedcup.com. “However, this is the last year of my career and I want to play. I told Anabel [Medina Garrigues, Spain’s captain] this a long time ago.
“I want Spain to be in the final 12. It’s the first time that this format is happening and it’s a big change. I want to try it, experience it and see how we feel about it.”
The format of the Fed Cup has been to make the competition more similar to the Davis Cup. And Navarro already likes the new structure of the tournament.
“I liked the old format but I was in Madrid on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and watched the quarter-finals, semis and final. When Spain were playing it was really good. There was a full house and the players really enjoyed it.
“I like the format. You have to play every match at 100 per cent. That was the case before, but now you only have three points so you have to go for it. I like it, I like the competition how it was in Madrid. I think it is working for the players.”
