"I can't wait!" - Serena Williams eagerly anticipates Naomi Osaka's return to tennis

With Naomi Osaka's return to the tennis courts imminent, it appears not only fans but competitors are stoked to have the Japanese superstar back in action.

Caught by TMZ reporters over the weekend, WTA legend Serena Williams was asked how she felt about Osaka nearing a return to the WTA circuit.

"Oh my goodness," exclaimed Williams. "It's gonna be amazing. I can't wait."

Osaka has been away from the sport, as the 24-year old opted to take a break from tennis to focus on her mental health after the 2021 US Open. However, the former World No.1 has been making strides to return, recently releasing some photos of herself on the practice courts in preparation for her comeback.

As the 2022 Australian Open draws closer, it would be a delight to have both ladies competing again on tour. Williams has not played since injuring her hamstring at Wimbledon in June, but has hinted at a return in Melbourne in January.
