Former world number one
Caroline Wozniacki believes that being
older and becoming a mother gave her a sense of calmness.
The 33-year-old has recently returned to playing
professional tennis after retiring three years back in order to give more time
to her family.
Talking ahead of the upcoming
US Open, Wozniacki was of the
opinion that getting older gives her a sense of freedom and calmness, something
she did not have before.
"I feel like there's some sort of a calmness that comes
with the perspective of being a mom,” she said. "Having been away from the
game for a while that I think you can't really replicate unless you've been
through kind of the whole process of starting off really young, working your
way through, then obviously coming back and knowing exactly what you need to do
to get back to a very, very, very high level."
"I am obviously older and I feel like I have more of a,
I don't know, clear pathway for myself also on the court, fitness, physical,
all of that."
"But I also feel like I have a little bit more of a
clear mind when it comes to off the court, whether that comes to sponsorship,
whether that comes to kids because I don't feel like I'm as stressed anymore.”
Wozniacki has not set the world alight after returning to playing
at the highest level and she will be eager to change that in the upcoming mega-event.
The fourth and final Grand Slam of the year is set to begin
on Monday where players from all over the world will showcase their talent to
claim the ultimate prize.
Wozniacki has an impressive record while playing at Flashing
Medows where she finished as a runner-up twice in her career — in 20019 and
later in 2014.
