Coco Gauff produced a very strong display on Sunday in her first
Roland Garros match where she defeated
Johanna Konta in straight sets.
Coco Gauff started off her Roland Garros campaign with a strong display against the number 9 seed Johanna Konta knocking her out 6-3 6-3. It was a very strong display in her main draw debut against world number 13. She said:
"I don't really take anything for granted, because I'm just happy to be playing. I don't think maybe winning matches at slams is something I'm used to, especially this is my first main draw at Roland Garros. When I'm on the court, I can act like I'm used to it. When I'm off the court, I'm just happy to be here."
The American enjoys her stay in Paris very much calling it her favourite city. When asked about what fascinates her so much about Paris she said:
"I think it's just the culture and the architecture, the food, everything, I just really love it. It's just so different from home. Especially the croissants, that's a personal favourite of mine. I haven't had any crepes yet. I have to stay healthy for the tournament. When it's over, I'll be eating a lot of those."
Gauff is set to play against Italian qualifier Martina Trevisan in the next round who advanced past Camila Giorgi in an all-Italian clash.
