Mirra Andreeva will face her sister Erika Andreeva on Tuesday at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix with the Russian holding a 1-0 deficit in favour of Erika. But since their last meeting, Andreeva has broke out even more.
She won Dubai and Indian Wells back-to-back and was only halted by another player of the season candidate in Amanda Anisimova in Miami. She now attacks clay which is where fans first became familiar with her a few years ago.
She made her debut at the Madrid Open as a 15-year-old and now on the verge of turning 18, she gave a brutally honest answer about finding the balance on court.
She said that the difference is that she has found the balance not to be depressed on court and that she is now very much happy. Finding that happy medium has led to her best form yet.
Despite having to battle her sister over Marta Kostyuk, Andreeva will be hoping to put a shift in this week as she makes her debut battling for the Porsche. The tournament that every WTA player hopes to win, she goes in as one of the favourites as part of the leading quartet of players.
A new position to be in and as she turns 18, she will be very much hoping the rise continues.
"I think that because when I play the match, when I play the tournament, I just try to go on court and do enjoy every moment, to kind of have fun, but at the same time take it seriously," said Andreeva during her pre-tournament media day.
"I think that lately I found that balance to not really be depressed or to worry too much on the court, but also sometimes take it easy and let it go. I think me finding that balance helped me a lot these couple of months
