Aryna Sabalenka has joked that she needs to talk more to Novak Djokovic after winning back-to-back Australian Opens and the Belarusian having success after spending time with him.
Last year, Sabalenka like Djokovic was pictured early at the Australian Open after snubbing warm-ups and they both went on to win the title. This year wasn't the same, but Sabalenka had success again winning her second Australian Open.
Asked if she is trying to pull a Djokovic after training together and hanging around, she replied jokingly but said that it wasn't a topic they joked about together.
"Aryna, I remember in the XO in Abu Dhabi the year before, you were hanging around with Novak. Same team, training together. Next thing you know you're winning back-to-back Australian Opens. Have you talked about this and are you trying to pull a Novak there?" the World No. 2 was asked. "I guess I need to speak more often to Novak maybe. Maybe that's why I'm winning. I need to talk about that," Sabalenka responded. "But, no, we didn't joke around about the topic."
