Former world number one
Naomi Osaka has stated that she is not looking forward to another ‘traumatic’ experience of becoming a mother again. The 26-year-old returned to the court earlier this year after
spending more than 12 months on the sidelines after giving birth to her first
child.
Osaka, in an interaction on a social media platform, revealed the reason behind not wanting to become a mother again. She stated that giving
birth is a ‘traumatic’ experience. “I just wanna say I’m not preggos,” she
said. “But if I was, I wouldn’t want many more because giving birth was
traumatic.”
Osaka has found it hard to deliver consistent results on the
court ever since she returned to the court earlier this year. Her most recent
appearance was in the Cincinnati Open where she was knocked out in the
qualifying stage after losing to America’s Ashlyn Krueger with a score of 6-3, 2-6,
6-3. Before that, she participated in the Canadian Open where she was knocked out
of the mega-event after losing to Elise Mertens of Belgium in the round of 32 in
straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-4.
Osaka is a four-time Grand Slam winner. Her first major
title was the US Open in 2018 when she defeated former world number one America’s
Serena Williams in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-4. She then
lifted the Australian Open in 2019 after beating Czech Republic’s Petra Kvitova
with a score of 7–6(7–2), 5–7, 6–4. Her third major title was the US Open in
2020 where she defeated former world number one Belarus’ Victoria Azarenka in
the final with a score of 1–6, 6–3, 6–3. Her last big triumph was the Australian
Open in 2021 where she got the better of America’s Jennifer Brady in straight
sets with a score of 6-4, 6-3.
