Tunisia’s tennis star
Ons Jabeur has admitted that she tried
to make the most use of
Marie Bouzkova's discomfort during the
US Open 2023
fixture.
The fourth and final Grand Slam of the year is moving towards
the business end where players are giving their all to secure the ultimate
glory.
Jabeur defeated Czech Republic’s tennis star in the round of
32 clash on Saturday with a score of 5-7, 7-6, 6-3.
During that match, Bouzkova struggled with fitness concerns
and Jabeur admitted that she tried to make the most of it.
"At the end of the second set, I tried to make more
[of] the point, hit it a little bit harder,” she said. “And I was just trying
to play my game. You know, I honestly saw her struggling [a] little bit with
her legs, so I tried to make her move as much as I can. I know that's not nice
but I was trying to win the match here.
"And at certain times I was like, ‘is she like really
injured?’ Like, I wasn't sure, she was making all my drop shots. Like, I'm
either making the best drop shots or the opposite. I'm not sure.”
The 29-year-old will now face China’s Qinwen Zheng in
the quarterfinal of the US Open on Monday.
