Roddick expressed his admiration for the tennis legend
Jimmy Connors and
greeted him on his birthday.

Andy Roddick manifested his admiration for the 8-time Grand Slam
champion Jimmy Connors, one of the great figures of tennis in the 1970s.
One of the
most notable milestones in Connors' career is his record of 109 individual
titles in men's tennis, an achievement that positioned him as one of the most
successful players of all time.
His prowess
in the Grand Slam tournaments also deserves special recognition, having won a
total of 8 Grand Slam titles, including five victories at the
US Open and his
triumph at the Australian Open in 1974.
Furthermore,
Connors held the world No. 1 ranking for 268 weeks, a record that stood until
Ivan Lendl surpassed it with 270 weeks. Currently, he ranks fifth in this
regard, following Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Pete Sampras, and the Czech
Lendl.
Additionally,
he spent 160 consecutive weeks at the top between 1974 and 1977, which is the
second-best streak in history after Federer's incredible 237 weeks.
Connors'
incredible records solidify his status as one of the greatest legends in men's
tennis. American tennis star Andy Roddick sent a birthday message to Connors on
his 71st birthday after responding to a post on the US Open's Twitter account.
"Happy
birthday to 5-time US Open champion, Jimmy Connors," read the post of US Open account.
"Put
it in my veins ….. Happy Bday Jimmy Connors," respond Roddick.
Connors
holds the record of 5 US Open titles, shared with Pete Sampras and Roger
Federer, although only the Swiss achieved it consecutively.
Roddick
also won the US Open in 2003, defeating Juan Carlos Ferrero in the final. He
maintains the record as the youngest tennis player to reach the quarterfinals
at Flushing Meadows.
