Polish tennis star Iga Swiatek has been one of the most dominant players on the WTA Tour over the last few years, and her record against her fellow top-ranked players proves she remains the player to beat.
Swiatek suffered a setback at the ongoing Qatar Open, where she is the three-time defending champion. The former World No.1 faced familiar foe Jelena Ostapenko, who has never lost to the Polish superstar. In true form, the Latvian player kept her impressive streak alive, scoring a dominant 6-3 6-1 win over the defending champion.
Despite her loss to Ostapenko, Swiatek remains one of the most difficult players to face amongst the WTA Top 10 players. The 23-year old has been a force to be reckoned with after attaining the World No.1 ranking in 2022. During that period of time, Swiatek has amassed 42 wins against other players in the top 10, the most among active players.
Current World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka sits second the list, with 24 top 10 wins on her resume since the start of 2022. American tennis prodigy Coco Gauff is third, having tallied 20 wins against her fellow top 10 stars during that time period. Compatriots Jessica Pegula and Madison Keys round out the top five, with each player having 14 wins.
Former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina has 13 wins, with two time Grand Slam champion Barbora Krejcikova sitting at 11 wins. There is a five-way tie with players at 10 wins, shared by Daria Kasatkina, Karolina Muchova, Qinwen Zheng, Ekaterina Alexandrova and Victoria Azarenka.
Jelena Ostapenko becomes the first player with 5+ wins against Iga Swiatek.
