"I’m very afraid of letting my partner down" - Naomi Osaka on playing mixed doubles at 2022 US Open

Naomi Osaka announced on Twitter that she wants to play mixed doubles at the US Open but there is a twist.

The four-time Major singles champion has participated in women's doubles at a few Slams, but she has not yet participated in mixed doubles.

"I kinda want to play mixed doubles in US Open cause I’ve never played a full match in my life but I’m also very afraid of letting my partner down."

The 24-year-old was scheduled to compete in mixed doubles at Wimbledon this year, but she was forced to withdraw due to an injury. In response to Osaka's remark, Kim Clijsters, a fellow four-time Major champion, urged her to play mixed doubles and cited the sport's enormous pleasure factor.
