Tunisia’s tennis star
Ons Jabeur has revealed that she is struggling
with fitness concerns ahead of the
Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.
The WTA 1000 event is set to begin from February 18 where
players from all over the world will showcase their talent to secure the
ultimate prize. Jabeur is amongst the big-name players expected to take part in
the event.
However, the current world number six was recently quoted in
a report where she revealed that her heart is telling her to go and play in the
competition whereas her mind is telling her to rest and let her body recover.
"I think it's the worst decision you can take because
my heart wants to play and my body is not allowing so much," she said. I feel like I need to take the right decision
and sometimes you have to take decisions where your heart is not agreeing with
it. But all I know is that I'm doing my best to be ready for this tournament
and be ready to play here and compete in front of amazing fans."
The development will be a serious setback for Jabeur who is
having a tough time in the recent past where she was knocked out of the
Australian Open after losing in the second round to Russia’s Mirra Andreeva with
a score of 6-0, 6-2.
She was later knocked
out of the second round of the Qatar Open as well after losing to Lesia Tsurenko
of Ukraine with a score of 6-3, 6-2.
