The Internationaux de Strasbourg has finally opened up after previous rain delays with Danielle Collins continuing her incredible form as of late by seeing off Katerina Siniakova with relative ease 6-1, 6-2.
Collins has only been beaten by Aryna Sabalenka in recent weeks and has only really struggled on her return to the sport against Olga Danilovic and Jaqueline Cristian after a few weeks away. But since then, she has been imperious. In just over an hour and five minutes, she saw off the Czech ace and attempted to speak French afterwards. But she couldn't in a hilarious moment.
She will face off against Clara Burel in the third round and in the semi-finals, she could face Marketa Vondrousova or Anhelina Kalinina. In the other half, it will be Liudmila Samsonova or Beatriz Haddad Maia who will face off against Magda Linette or Madison Keys in the semi-finals.
Their routes were planned earlier today. Elina Svitolina who was in the Collins quarter and is defending champion suffered a crushing defeat to her hopes of Roland Garros. The Frenchwoman won in just over two hours and 18 minutes sealing a 7-6, 4-6, 6-1 win.
Anhelina Kalinina found her way through in a Fiona Ferro win. She fell down the rankings down towards the top 60 after failing to defend her final run in Rome. But she is into the Quarter-Finals after defeating the Frenchwoman 6-3, 3-6, 6-0. Marketa Vondrousova who took a late wildcard into the tournament breezed through the final two sets against Magdalena Frech. She lost the first 5-7, but claimed the latter two 6-1, 6-0 to seal her spot in the Quarter-Finals.
Other winners were Magda Linette who saw off Ekaterina Alexandrova in a poor loss for the Russian who was defeated 7-6, 3-6, 3-6. Madison Keys continued her great form though 5-7, 0-6 and she saw off Xinyu Wang in just over an hour and 20 minutes. Beatriz Haddad Maia started the day seeing off Emma Navarro who reached the final in Paris but is not winning as much at the moment after her breakout year. Haddad Maia is a competent clay court player and took advantage in a 6-4, 7-6 win.
