Iga Swiatek is through to the final of the 2023 China Open after downing Coco Gauff who was the winner of 16 matches in a row before Saturday.
This included the US Open, with Swiatek on the opposite end having to go through some soul searching and a change in attitude in order to find some of her best form again.
The former World No.1 while not playing poorly as of late has lacked that dominant force winning run which saw her dominate the WTA Tour.
But after losing top spot to Aryna Sabalenka earlier this Summer, it is more about freedom now for Swiatek to express herself on the tennis court again and that it is something she will remember for the rest of her career.
“It feels like I can play freely again. It’s been a while since I felt that way. I’ll remember for the rest of my career that even though tougher times may come, in your mind you can always overcome that. With hard work you can achieve it. I’m happy I switched my attitude after US Open. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep it as long as possible.”
