Former Roland Garros finalist
Marketa Vondrousova is back to playing tennis and she's back to playing really good tennis smashing opponents left and right.
The Czech player proved herself petty early on in her career making the final of Roland Garros however injuries derailed her career greatly in the past year and more. She's now back and healthy and proving to be really good at this thing called tennis beating pretty good players weekly. After another win in Rome, Vondrousova explained that she wants to prove it to herself first and foremost:
"Not for people who know. It's more for me to prove to myself than for
other people."
Vondrousova worked really hard on her comeback however good things don't always happen if you work hard. There have been some setbacks but now she's finally free with the hard work paying off:
"I always worked hard when I was in the gym, but sometimes it's not
always working hard in the gym. It's how you're preparing
for your matches, for your practices, how your recovery is going after
every single match."
She also underlined the importance of having a great team around you:
"It's important to have a good team around you who will let you start
slowly and not expect you to play big matches or to play great from the
beginning. For me, I was so happy to be back on the
court that I enjoyed it more. The one good thing about the surgeries is
that you feel grateful to be back. It makes you realize how much you
love tennis."
