Elena Rybakina finally got to practice on the stadium court yesterday with a video taken alongside Ons Jabeur who joked about being on the famous Rybakina Instagram, but it has not been ideal preparation ahead of the
WTA Finals she admits.
Over the course of the last week, Cancun Chaos has descended on the WTA Finals with Rybakina one of multiple players speaking out with frustration at the stadium court not being built and having to train at the hotel instead.
It is now built, but videos even posted by Rybakina showed how windy it is and she said that it will be a battle between conditions and a lack of court time as she takes to the court first up on Sunday to face Jessica Pegula.
“It surprised me that we didn’t get a chance yet to practice. I think that’s the only day now. I’m going to get the first hit in the evening. Tomorrow I have to play the match, so this is a bit disappointing.
"But it is what it is. I guess we’re going to try to do our best to show good tennis, which is not going to be that easy with such windy conditions. But overall, I mean, Mexico is really nice. Yeah, I think we just try to do our best here.”
