"It's not my priority goal": Sabalenka admits World Number One is wanted but focus on titles over rankings

Aryna Sabalenka does want to be the number one player in the world but she's not focused on the ranking but rather on winning titles as revealed in an exclusive interview with Eurosport.

The recently-crowned Madrid Open champion sat down with Eurosport to talk some tennis and her career which has been elevated to a new level this year. A grand slam trophy, and some other trophies as well are a good start for Sabalenka who has been searching for such trophies for a while. It's always been the main goal for her - winning titles:

“I always wanted to win as many titles as possible during my career. So, if I keep thinking that way and focusing on myself then there's always going to be a chance to become No. 1."

Being number one is a goal but it's the thing she wants the most, that would be trophies:

“It's not my priority goal, but this is something I really want to see happen in the future. It's a different approach right now, before I was thinking like 'come on, you need to get at least one Grand Slam in your career.' But right now, I have this Grand Slam and can play with more freedom, you don't think about being a top player without a Grand Slam. You just think about your game and wanting to bring your best game every time you're out on court. It's a different approach right now.”
