Doubles world No. 1 Katerina Siniakova continues to add to her legend as the greatest doubles player of recent years, after winning her 10th Grand Slam title at the Australian Open, this time alongside American Taylor Townsend. After a successful partnership with compatriot Barbora Krejcikova, the 28-year-old Czech continues to reap success in the category.

Siniakova has enjoyed a good career in singles, reached the top-30 in 2023 and has remained a top-50 player for the last 4 years. In her career she has also won 5 WTA 250 titles (and another 5 finals) on all surfaces. However, her greatest successes have been in doubles.

Siniakova the doubles queen

His successful partnership with Barbora Krejcikova - 2-time singles Grand Slam champion - left them with 7 Grand Slam titles, 3 WTA 1000 and the WTA Finals 2021 and the Olympic doubles gold in Tokyo 2021. After splitting in 2023, doubts remained about how they would perform with new partners. Since then Siniakova won three Grand Slam titles and reached two semifinals in her 5 appearances, with Coco Gauff and Taylor Townsend.

"I am really enjoying this new phase; the funny thing is that we have known each other since we were young, but never paired up," Siniakova commented on press conference about her partnership with Townsend. "You know how these journeys are, like roller coasters, but I love it.”

“Taylor is an amazing girl, I feel that we are a very dynamic pair, which leads to even more enjoyment. We are friends, and in this final, it has been proven that we are constantly helping each other, which I love.”

Siniakova is one of the 7 players who completed the Career Golden Slam in doubles (along with Krejcikova), winning all four majors and the gold medal. The 28-year-old is already among the top 10 players with the most doubles majors titles in the Open Era, in a ranking led by Martina Navratilova with an incredible 21 titles.

"It sounds good when you hear these things. The truth is that I still get nervous during crucial moments," admits the Czech. "I really enjoy the competition; I love playing doubles, so it fills me with great satisfaction to say that I have collected all these successes. It sounds incredible.”

“It is very pleasing that you also acknowledge and remember it. In my case, as a professional athlete, I am just working hard to try to achieve more and more. I want to continue being excited, so thank you all,” the doubles world No. 1 concluded.
