Sofia Kenin managed to win her 2nd trophy of 2020 at the Open 6éme Sens 2020 in Lyon after defeating Friedsam in 3 sets.
After a tumultuous week in Lyon, Sofia Kenin managed to find herself in the final of the
Open 6éme Sens 2020 against Friedsam. She would go on to
win the match and claim her 2nd trophy of 2020. After the match she spoke of her run in Lyon:
"I had two tough losses but I knew I needed to regroup, and I'm so happy that I won it. Every match was a close one and I had to really fight through - every player I played put up a tough fight against me, and I was able to play my game which was good. I'm happy that I came here to Lyon - it was a good decision from my side... I wanted to get enough match play going into Indian Wells and Miami."
She certainly has had a
tumultuous week in Lyon, where she came close to defeat several times. Yesterday she wasn't close to defeat but you could feel the momentum shifting. Kenin even admitted it post-match:
"It's expected. She lost a set but she's not going to give up, it's the final. [She] just played some really good tennis and I tried to find a way to regroup and find my game in the third set."
She managed to compose herself and win it in the end. Well deserved.
