Barbora Krejcikova made it a sweep at the 2021 Roland Garros winning the doubles title as well with Katerina Siniakova becoming the first player since 2000 to do it.
A magical fortnight for Barbora Krejcikova ended today with the fairytale ending as Siniakova and she won the Roland Garros doubles title as well. The Czech player capped off a historic run yesterday by winning the Ladies title in the singles and now she added a doubles title as well.
This is not the first time the Czech duo won the Roland Garros as they managed to do it in 2018 as well. That was their best year together as they won the Wimbledon title as well as playing the semifinals at US Open. This year they reached the final of the Australian Open but lost.
Now they won their 3rd Grand Slam title together winning the French Open for the 2nd time. It's a significant win for Krejcikov as she became the first player to win the singles and doubles title at Roland Garros since 2000. The double win is a rare feature in general and doing it in a Grand Slam is fairly rare and only 7 women ever did it at Roland Garros.
The win came over Mattek-Sands and Swiatek whom they defeated 6-4 6-2. After the win Krejcikova said:
'I think my partner should talk, because I talked a lot yesterday.'
