The 31st means just as much as the first. Thank you all for believing in me and staying with me on this journey. Berlin, you were as beautiful as your grass courts 🙏❤️🏆 @bett1open
Former World No.2 Petra Kvitova achieved a new milestone on Sunday, becoming just the second player aged 30 or older to win the bett1 Open.
The two-time Wimbledon champion defeated Donna Vekic in straight sets to lift the title in Berlin. By virtue of this feat, the Czech star became the oldest player player at 33 years and 110 days to win the bett1 Open, surpassing Chris Evert who won the title at 30 years of age in 1985.
This was Kvitova's second title of the season, after emerging victorious in Miami earlier this year. The World No.9 did not drop a set en route to the title, and continues to prove her prowess on grass as she claimed her sixth career trophy on the surface.
