Petra Kvitova has put injury issues behind her after winning in Miami earlier this season to notch a second title of the year at the Bett1 Open Berlin.
Kvitova saw off World No.23, Donna Vekic who similar to the Czech has grass as one of her best surfaces and for the former, it is her sixth out of 31 on the surface.
It was a 6-2, 7-6(6) win in the end. Only Venus Williams has won more titles among active WTA players with 49 overall. As well as for Kvitova being her 12th win out of 13 in her previous matches on grass stretching back to Eastbourne last year.
It was a confident display for Kvitova of clutch serving and baseline brilliance as she lost only eight points behind her serve in the opening set. This seeing her face but wipe out her only break point against her.
Vekic surged in the second set beginning to test Kvitova like she didn't in the first. She built a 3-1 lead by winning 14/20 points in a row and served to take it to a third set.
But this momentum was halted as Kvitova broke and forced a tiebreak which again saw her produce a comeback from 3-1 down to go 5-4 up Vekic served her seventh ace of the match for the first set point though.
Only for Kvitova to save it and an errant forehand gave her a first match point before sealing it in style with a forehand winner down the line.
