Kvitova comes back against Linette while Swiatek moves on after Riske retires in Rome

Petra Kvitova made a comeback against Magda Linette while Iga Swiatek moved on following retirement from Alison Riske.

The first one on the courts was Petra Kvitova who took on Magda Linette and it was a struggle episode early. Nothing went right for Kvitova who had 4 double faults. She won only 1 of 9 points on her 2nd serve and she lost the set 6-1. The 2nd set was revenge time as this time around all went well.

She served good, she played well and blew Linette off the court with 6-0. The Polish player had no answer against Kvitova at that continue in the final set. She put on a bit more resistance but Kvitova cruised 6-2. A shaky start for the Czech but she did well to shake it off in time.

Joining her in R2 of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia will be Iga Swiatek. The Polish player entered the contested really flat missing a lot of shots and losing rallies she normally would win. She defeated Riske 6-1 6-1 a few days ago in Madrid but this time around the American was up 4-1.

Swiatek was able to come back into the match after a stellar run where she finally started hitting some shots. She took the 5-4 lead but an injury at 5-4 and 40-40 forced Riske to retire from the match. Swiatek moves on in Rome awaiting the winner of Muchova vs Keys.
