Leylah Fernandez had to play two matches in one day at the Jiangxi Open, but excelled to continue her winning streak and her confidence boosting end to the season.
With the season coming to a close, Fernandez will be one wishing it continued, with the Canadian winning in Hong Kong lost week and will play now in the Jiangxi Open semi-finals.
There she will meet a familiar foe in Katerina Siniakova after sealing a 6-3, 6-4 win over Aliaksandra Sasnovich on Friday afternoon. For reference, she has already played once today and had to return only a few hours later due to rain delays yesterday.
But given her current form, it seemed nothing was stopping her. Albeit Siniakova might next as Laura Siegemund had to withdraw due to injury meaning that the Czech ace will be the fresher of the two come tomorrow.
It is an eight match winning streak though and could be 10 come the week end with a back-to-back title for Fernandez. She only needed just over an hour to complete the job over Sasnovich too just like in her earlier game so wasn't enduring a marathon to get over the line.
