Playing her first match as a top 100 player and her first since her Wimbledon run,
Mirra Andreeva settled quickly thrashing Dayana Yastremska 6-0, 6-2 in just 65 minutes at
Ladies Open Lausanne.
The 16-year-old reached the fourth round at Wimbledon as well as of course Roland Garros third round, with the former mastering grass in her first ever tournament on the surface.
She has now returned to her native clay and did so in style in Lausanne.
"I showed some great level, I think," said Andreeva. "You have to ask my coach!"
A flawless opening set saw superb offence and defence from Andreeva as she used backhand winners to perfection including twice on break point.
She reeled off the first eight games of the match and pinned Yastremska deep into the corner with the experienced Ukrainian unable to mount any resolve.
Yastremska did see some resolve in the second set attaining two breaks but the momentum was not converted and Andreeva fought back converting her first match point with a supreme backhand.
But what is next for Andreeva. "Top 50 is the new goal, if I can," she said. "If not, I have 20 more years to do it!"
