Tunisian tennis star Ons Jabeur has found herself immersed in the spotlight over the past few years, and recently opened up on the concept of starting a family during her playing career.
The 29-year old experienced a meteoric rise on the WTA tour, seeing her ranking rise as high as World No.2 in 2022. As a result, she became the highest ranked player ever from both the Africa and Arab region in both the WTA and ATP tour.
The World No.6 has finished runner-up at three Grand Slams, the 2022 US Open and consecutive appearances at Wimbledon in 2022 and 2023. In a recent interview, Jabeur was asked whether she had set a deadline on winning a Major title and if she would transition to a family-oriented stage of her life by having kids.
"I love kids so much, I'm a family person, I always want to have kids of my own and you know having Karim by my side like I said is also like a great person and truly would be a great father," replied Jabeur. "It wasn't actually linked you know, having a Grand Slam and having baby you know but 29-years-old my goal is to have a baby and come back, so it's the right time to do it and I feel like I'm honestly playing great tennis so if I start I'm not sure how I'm gonna come back so it's now or never to win that Slam.
"So I thought a nice break to have a beautiful family will be amazing and losing the final hurt me the most because it was a dream to win the title," said Jabeur in reference to losing the 2023 Wimbledon final.
