A spectacular matchup delivered a great match as Naomi Osaka bested Coco Gauff in three sets. This was a comeback win for Osaka who dropped the first set but proved calm to win the next two. Gauff entered the match a bit nervous having to save early break points.
Once she did that she settled in nicely and played rather well. Osaka played great once she hit her first serve but that happened less than 50 % of the time. At 4-5, she gave Gauff two break point chances and the young teen phenom seized the chance.
After losing the first set Osaka was the first to drop her serve in the 2nd set as well. This time around she got it back immediately after which she started playing better. Her serving became better and that opened her game a lot. Soon groundstrokes started hitting as well and she won the 2nd set with 6-3.
After a toilet break for both players play resumed. Gauff jumped out to a 40-15 lead but a couple of cheap errors gave Osaka a break chance. She took it and never looked back. Her serve improved as well making her virtually unplayable. She only dropped one point on her serve closing out the match with a 6-4 final set win.
