Undoubtedly the greatest athletic achievement and honor I will ever have in my life. I have no words to describe the feelings I have right now but I do know I am currently filled with gratefulness and thankfulness ❤️ love you guys thank you.
Naomi Osaka will not be opening the tennis event for the Olympic Games on Saturday as her match got pushed back to Sunday. The decision came abruptly as the event posted a revised schedule where the match was removed from the 04:00 CET time slot. The match was replaced by Iga Swiatek vs Mona Barthel and the reason is simple.
Osaka was chosen as the person to light the Olympic Cauldron the night before at the ceremony and she completed the honour. After it was done she wrote on Twitter:
"Undoubtedly the greatest athletic achievement and honour I will ever have in my life. I have no words to describe the feelings I have right now, but I do know I am currently filled with gratefulness and thankfulness. Love you guys, thank you."
Her 1st round match vs Saisai Zheng will take place on Sunday with the time to be announced later today.
