Nottingham Open is due to take place from Monday 15 June, but in theory three of their top names at least might not end up playing after all in the East Midlands city with a double withdrawal already today on Sunday 14 June.
Iva Jovic was long announced for the event. The 18-year-old American who is World No.17 given her trajectory is less likely to play tournaments like this going forward on the WTA 250 level due to her elevated status from this time last year.
But the tournament have suffered a hammer blow as her great week at Queen's has seen the tournament suffer a withdrawal. Albeit mainly due to injury over just wanting a week off. Jovic wasn't at her best yesterday when she was defeated by Emma Raducanu at Queen's and suffered an ankle injury.
This has seen her pull out of the doubles yesterday and also now Nottingham. So after pinning their hopes on having their top name in town, Jovic will now seemingly not play until Wimbledon if she is resting up.
Barbora Krejcikova, former Wimbledon champion was also due to play in the city but she has withdrawn. Again though perhaps a bonafide reason given that she has an upper respiratory illness. She was due to play the Libema Open 's-Hertogenbosch final. But she later had to withdraw.
Robin Montgomery as a result became one of two surprise winners this week based off ranking with Donna Vekic also a lucky loser and she went on to win Queen's.

Raducanu also likely out

Emma Raducanu took a late wildcard into Nottingham as she aims to continue her form but after she lost to Donna Vekic in the final of Queen's, she said 'we'll see' and wouldn't rule out withdrawing from Nottingham where she is due to face Karolina Pliskova in a bumper first round.
At the moment, the event is headlined by such ties as Zheng Qinwen v Maria Sakkari, Harriet Dart v Katie Boulter, Emma Navarro v Sara Bejlek and Zeynep Sonmez v Leylah Fernandez. Albeit ironically due to withdrawals, the whole of Fernandez' section is lucky losers or qualifiers.
