On the first day of 2024 I wanted to wish you a happy new year and share the exciting news that Jiri and I will be welcoming a baby into our family this summer! 👼
After much rumour and speculation including the player having to deny it, Petra Kvitova has confirmed that she will become a mother and is expecting her first child with husband, Jiri Vanek as they brought in the New Year with the announcement.
Kvitova hasn't played since losing at the China Open and in a season in which she won in Miami, she then battled injuries and admitted that she hadn't picked up a racquet in over 11 weeks in a recent update. But it seems that those thinking Kvitova was pregnant were correct and she is now certainly set to miss the Australian Open after only entering late on before the deadline.

"On the first day of 2024 I wanted to wish you a happy new year and share the exciting news that Jiri and I will be welcoming a baby into our family this summer!" Kvitova wrote. This was also accompanied with a baby grow featuring 'Courage, Belief, Pojd' which is Kvitova's personal slogan.
Kvitova married her long-time coach Vanek last summer after dating since 2021 and in a time in which Angelique Kerber, Naomi Osaka among others are returning after becoming mothers, Kvitova joins Belinda Bencic as the latest player who will potentially return to the tour as a mother in the coming year.
