The 2024 Paris Olympic Games begin on Saturday July 27 in the tennis world and the draw has been completed and excitement can now begin. The projected Quarter-Finals on the women's side of the draw are set and offer an exciting look at what's to come.
Iga Swiatek is top seed at the 2024 Olympic Games albeit she has a really tough route through which could incredibly a myriad of players that she has lost to in the past or been pushed to her limit. Albeit it is on a surface she adores and a place she loves in Paris.
Swiatek is a four-time reigning French Open champion and won there only two months ago again. So she will be the out and out favourite to finally add the gold medal to her collection. But it could be Noskova, Ostapenko and maybe Danielle Collins that await on her run in the latter stages.
Collins is in her final year as a pro and what a way it would be to bow out in claiming a medal for her country. She finally gets to represent a fiercely competitive USA team who have dozens of top stars. But the way she has fought herself into the higher echelons of the sport in her final year initially put Madison Keys and Emma Navarro's spots out.
Albeit Navarro gets to play as Keys decided against it. But Collins will have great pride in representing the USA and given her tenacity on the court, 'Danimal' could bring her best to the French capital especially after a poor effort in Paris overcooked from warm-ups last time out.
It is perhaps Elena Rybakina who has the toughest route. Murmurings that she has withdrawn have circled around social media with Rybakina not seen in Paris after her getaway to Turkey. But if she does play, it could be a draw against Qinwen Zheng who herself comes off a title run in Palermo. A quality operator on clay, it could be a nightmare for Rybakina.
The same can be said for Jessica Pegula as one half of a trio of American's predicted to reach the Quarter-Finals. She could face Jasmine Paolini, the fourth seed and reigning finalist at Roland Garros who also reached the final at Wimbledon. A player for the big occasion as of late, she will anchor Italian hopes too after Jannik Sinner's withdrawal and could face a Quarter-Final with Pegula.
While Coco Gauff is perceived as having the nicest draw. She could face Maria Sakkari who has performed poorly at Grand Slams as of late and has also undergone a coaching change in Sergi Bruguera. Will it bear fruit? Time will tell but Gauff will fancy her chances in her gold medal run especially sat on the opposite side to Swiatek.
