The semi-finals of the 2026
Porsche Tennis Grand Prix Stuttgart are set for Saturday, with Elena Rybakina facing Mirra Andreeva and Karolina Muchova taking on Elina Svitolina. The final four reflects a mix of recovery wins and controlled performances, highlighted by Rybakina’s comeback under pressure and Andreeva’s three-set win over Iga Swiatek.
The draw now shifts toward contrasting profiles. Rybakina arrives after saving match points in a long
quarter-final, while Andreeva extends a strong clay run with consecutive wins over top opposition. In the other semi-final, Muchova builds on her first win over Coco Gauff, while Svitolina continues her consistent progression with another straight-sets result.
Rybakina vs Andreeva: serve pressure vs clay momentum
Elena Rybakina enters the semi-final after a physically demanding win over Leylah Fernandez, where she recovered from a set down and saved two match points — one at 5-4 in the final set on her serve, and another in the deciding tie-break. The match extended beyond three hours, and her performance included fluctuations on serve, particularly in the middle stages.
The Kazakh, currently world No. 2, had started her campaign with a more controlled win over Diana Shnaider (6-3, 6-4), but the quarter-final exposed some instability, especially behind her second serve. Against Fernandez, she had to recover from multiple deficit positions before closing the match on her first opportunity in the tie-break.
Mirra Andreeva arrives with a different trajectory. The 18-year-old extended her clay-court winning streak and reached her first Stuttgart semi-final after defeating Iga Swiatek 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. The match was defined by her ability to adjust after losing the opening set, increasing aggression and shortening points to avoid passive exchanges.
The Russian had already defeated Jelena Ostapenko and Alycia Parks earlier in the draw and arrives on an eight-match winning streak, including her title run in Linz last week. It is her third semi-final of the season, having converted the previous two into titles (Adelaide, Linz). She now faces Rybakina aiming for another win over a Top 5 opponent.
The head-to-head adds another layer.
Andreeva leads 2-1, having won both of their meetings last season in Dubai and Indian Wells, both on hard courts. Rybakina’s advantage lies in first-strike tennis and serve dominance, but her recent match suggests she may need a higher first-serve percentage to control rallies against a player currently in strong form on clay.
Muchova vs Svitolina: variation against consistency
Karolina Muchova enters the semi-final after securing her first career win over Coco Gauff (6-3, 5-7, 6-3) in her seventh attempt. The Czech, ranked No. 12, used variation and net play to disrupt Gauff’s rhythm, particularly targeting service games where double faults created openings. It is her second semi-final appearance of the season following Doha, where she claimed her first WTA 1000 title and second career trophy.
Muchova has been particularly consistent this season, holding a 21-4 record, with her only losses coming against Top 4 opponents (Sabalenka, Swiatek and twice Gauff). In her first clay event of the year, she has already shown the ability to translate that level to the surface, where she previously reached the Roland Garros final in 2023.
She will face Elina Svitolina, world No. 7, who advanced with a straight-sets win over Linda Noskova (7-6, 7-5) in one hour and 42 minutes. The match was decided by small margins, including a tie-break in the first set and a late break in the second after multiple missed opportunities earlier in the set.
Svitolina also arrives with strong 2026 form, currently ranked No. 4 in the Race, while Muchova sits at No. 5. Her experience remains a key factor, with 19 career titles — including seven on clay and two WTA 1000 trophies in Rome. Her most recent clay final came in Rouen in April 2025, where she defeated Olga Danilovic.
The
head-to-head favours Svitolina, who leads 3-0 against Muchova, although they have never met on clay. After two straight-set wins in 2019 (Doha and Wimbledon), they met again last year at the Miami Open, where Svitolina prevailed in three sets.
