In our Preview of Day Two of the WTA 1000 Guadalajara Open AKRON, Victoria Azarenka, Belinda Bencic, and Beatriz Haddad Maia are among the players taking to the court for their opening rounds.

At the Estadio AKRON de Tenis, former World No. 1 Azarenka will be first to take to the court. The Belarusian is seeded tenth at the tournament and is set to face 19-year-old Robin Montgomery in the Round of 64. This will be the players' first meeting so it will be interesting to see how the young American reacts to the two-time Grand Slam champion.

Following this match will be sixteenth seed Karolina Pliskova's clash with Hailey Baptiste in their Round of 32. The Czech player ousted Japan's Ena Shibahara with a straight-sets victory in the first round, while the American dominated her match against home player Lya Fernandez, winning 6-2, 6-1.

Next up in the Estadio AKRON de Tenis will be seventh seed Veronika Kudermetova, who is playing her first match of the tournament against Eugenie Bouchard. The Canadian defeated home player Renata Zarazua in her Round of 64 match. She also currently leads her head-to-head with Kudermetova 2-0, but their last meeting was over three years ago at the 2020 Prague Open.

Following this will be ninth seed Haddad Maia, who will be taking on World No. 34 Danielle Collins in the Round of 64. The players have never faced each other before but Collins' aggressive style is expected to clash with the Brazilian player's stamina. Both players had successful runs at the San Diego Open, with Haddad Maia reaching the quarter-finals while Collins made it to the semis.

Last up on this court will be the Round of 32 match between fifth seed Bencic and American Taylor Townsend. They have faced each other once before, with the Swiss player leading their head-to-head 1-0. This meeting came four years ago at the 2019 Credit One Charleston Open, where Bencic took the victory in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5.

Elsewhere, Sofia Kenin will take on Carol Zhao and fourteenth seed Mayar Sherif will face Camila Giorgi. The two Italian players Jasmine Paolini and Martina Trevisan will also lock horns in their Round of 32 match on Grandstand Caliente.
