Tunisian tennis ace, Ons Jabeur will face Lesia Tsurenko in the second round of CreditOne Charleston Open but faces one issue that many players who are involved this week won't have.
Jabeur isn't able to fully enjoy the food on offer in Charleston due to Ramadan, one of the holiest months for Muslims where they fast and after sunset, they break their fast.
With the dates changing year on year, it started this time on March 23rd, while next year, it is March 12-13 and Jabeur hopes that in a few years when it eventually changes so that it is outside of Ramadan - she can finally enjoy Charleston.
“Ramadan happens to be the same time as Charleston. Hopefully in a few years, when Ramadan changes from the date of Charleston, I will be able to enjoy it more," Jabeur said, per Tennis Atlantic.
Another change has been the diet of Jabeur since returning from minor knee surgery. “I’ve been gluten-free since Indian Wells. It will be difficult when I go home, because there is no gluten-free couscous," Jabeur added.
