Serena and
Venus Williams' early years coach Rick Macci affectionally
recalls training with the star duo at a young age.
The Williams sisters dominated the world of women’s tennis
for more than a decade and won 30 Grand Slams between them.
Macci, in a post on his official account on social media
platform X — previously known as Twitter — recalls what it was like to coach the
players who went on to achieve big things.
“As kids @serenawilliams @Venuseswilliams would Hold Hands
Skip and Smile more every day. As the Compton Comets both hands would now hold
GRAND SLAM TROPHIES still skipping and would Smile even more every day,” he wrote.
The former world number one Serena is often regarded as the greatest
player in the history of women’s singles tennis in the Open era. She has won as
many as 23 Grand Slam titles in an illustrious career, the most by any woman’s
player.
Her most successful competition was the Australian Open and
Wimbledon where she ended up lifting the title seven times each.
On the other hand, Venus has won seven major titles in her
illustrious career. Her most successful competition has been Wimbledon where
she lifted the title three times.
