Elena
Rybakina revealed her goals on her wishlist.
The world
No. 3 is off the courts this week and will arrive with little preparation on
grass to defend the title she won at
Wimbledon in 2022. With only two matches
on grass at the Grass Court Championships Berlin, Rybakina secured a
first-round victory against Polina Kudermetova but fell in the second round to
Donna Vekic.
This week,
she was supposed to participate in the Eastbourne Open, making her debut
against Chinese player Wang Xiyu, but she decided to withdraw from the
tournament and prepare for her participation in Wimbledon on the courts of the
All England Tennis Club, aiming to regain her best form on grass.
The
24-year-old athlete was interviewed by the Daily Mail and shared some aspects
of her personal life, revealing some hobbies and things she enjoys, such as
cars and roller coasters:
"I
like cars but I don’t have my driver’s licence yet, I just haven’t had time yet
because I am always on the road," Rybakina said.
"I
really like roller coasters as well, and I have ridden quite a lot of them in
America. After a tournament it’s sort of a treat," she added.
Rybakina
also mentioned the idea of skydiving but stated that she hasn't done it yet due
to the recommendation of her coaches, who believe it is not the right time for
it.
“One of the
things I want to do is jump out of an aeroplane, but my coaches are telling me
this is not the right time. I think they are worried about the landing,” she
said.
Rybakina
will be the third seed at Wimbledon, where despite her limited preparation in
grass tournaments, she is considered one of the favorites alongside Iga Swiatek
and Aryna Sabalenka.
