Simona Halep played like the actual world number two in the match against the real world number two Badosa smashing her 6-3 6-1.
Simona Halep arrived in Madrid along with Patrick Mouratoglou for what is the first event of the duo. The goal of the partnership is to make Halep play more aggressively in order to fully reach her potential. The Romanian player made a great start in round one and followed that up with an even better performance in round two.
The opponent was world number two
Paula Badosa and Halep jumped to an early lead. She certainly played very aggressively and the player's traded blows early on in the match. Halep was simply a bit more better overall and she held the early lead. Badosa did find a good rhythm later on tying it up at 3-3 but Halep once again took the 5-3 lead.
She finished it up with another break 6-3. The 2nd set was a very interesting one as Badosa opted for more risk in her game going for an early winner and for the most part she was not getting it early. Halep was defending rather well and she jumped out to a 5-0 lead as Badosa kept spraying errors. Badosa saved the first match point at 5-0 to make it 5-1 and she had a break point at 5-1 but Halep finished it off with 6-1.
