On her way to the final, Kenin coped with Siegemund, Zavatska, Paolini and Blinkova. In the final, however, she was facing the biggest obstacle, the former world number four, Samantha Stosur.
An experienced Australian started the match better than her younger rival when she won the tie-break of the first set 7-4. But in the second set, Kenin showed why she was on 20th place of the WTA ranking and leveled the score after winning the second set 6-4.
In the beginning of the decsive set, the young American did not give Stosur a chance by winning a total of 16 out of 19 points in the first 4 games and building an important lead. Kenin won 6-2 in the last set to win the third title of the year.
After winning at the Hobart and Mallorca tournaments, she also improved her season record in Guangzhou, which shows 44-19 and moved to 17th place in the WTA rankings.
