We have a big upset at the
Rome Open as
Sofia Kenin stunned
Aryna Sabalenka beating her in two rather simple sets 7-6(4) 6-2.
Sabalenka has been really good this year as she made her way to the final in Madrid last week beating Swiatek in the final to win it. She didn't bring that level to Rome because she was struggling as early as the match started with Kenin taking an early break. Sabalenka was able to find a decent rhythm a bit later breaking back but she continued to struggle on her serve.
She got broken at 5-5 with Kenin giving herself a good chance to win the set however she got broke and we ended up in the tie-break. She proved better than Sabalenka winning it 7-4. The second set was even more simpler as Sabalenka unravelled after the first few games completely losing focus.
She would end up losing the set 2-6 with the main culprit her very poor play after missing her first serve. She won only 8 points on her second serve all match long which is very poor considering that we saw 26 rallies like that. Just a very impressive win for Kenin who once famously lost a match here 0-6 0-6.
