Elina Svitolina recently married Gael Monfils in a high profile tennis wedding between the so called G.E.M.S Life couple and it seems certain live score websites which confused fans jumped the gun by a number of years by putting her surname as Monfils.
As referenced by BTU, Svitolina said that as long as her career continues, she will be known at least on a professional level by her maiden name and that she wants her achievements to stand out as such with that name.
"I don't know why they changed my surname. Maybe they saw that I had changed it in my social networks. but I'm going to play as Svitolina till the very end of my professional career and will change it only after retirement," she said.
"I had numerous achievements and people know me as Svitolina. My father would be upset if I changed the surname and played as Monfils. I am proud to be Svitolina and my tennis career will always be connected with this surname."
