Iga Swiatek is on top of women's tennis for 40 weeks now but she's still getting used to being number one and the pressure that comes with it.
Swiatek is widely expected to win pretty much every match she plays and while she wins most, she's still only human and very beatable. She dominated at the
United Cup helping her country advance to the final stage of the event but also talked about her struggle with being considered the leader due to her ranking even though she's the youngest:
"But, yeah, as you said, yeah, I'm the youngest. Well, Magda, for example, or Hurkacz or Ali and Aga, obviously, they've been on Fed Cups and Davis Cup for so many years that they know actually, I don't know, a little bit better how it is to be in the team and have that baggage on your shoulders on court."
She also talked about the pressure of being number one in general adding:
"I'm still kind of getting used to it, but, you know, I also got used to the pressure, especially last year. I'm trying to cut it off on my matches to just focus on my game, and it's going pretty well. Hopefully I'm going to be able to do that on my next matches."
