Paula Badosa and Iga Swiatek called out the US Open and events in North America for using different tennis balls for men and women.

The issue is more complex than that because the balls behave quite differently from the ball used anywhere around the world. Men use the same tennis ball the entire year and it doesn't change for the US Open stretch but that's not the case for women.

The Spaniard took to social media once again showing the difference between the balls as the women's balls are branded as being suited for clay or indoor tennis while men's are branded for outdoors. Tennis fans backed Badosa on social media.

We bring you some of their comments.

"What seemed like a hyperbolic comment from Craig Tyzzer a year ago could turn out to be a very significant factor in this year’s US Open as Top WTA players speak out against the balls being different for the women than the men. These details matter in a game of very small margins."

Barty's coach Tyzzer indeed raised the issue last year as well.

"The fact that they play with different balls which are clearly identified for different purposes is already confusing enough, but I can see absolutely no reason for tennis balls not to be available elsewhere (meaning not even for online purchase). How does this make sense?"

Paula Badosa on Instagram about the US Open balls. It really makes no sense that the tournament is still using different balls for women and men. Lighter balls = harder to control = more errors. Worst than that: they're not available abroad, so players can't practice with them.
