Russia’s young tennis star
Mirra Andreeva’s impressive run
at
Wimbledon 2023 finally came to an end on Monday.
The 16-year-old suffered a defeat against America’s Madison
Keys in the round of 16 with a score of 2-6, 7-6, 6-2.
Because of her marvellous run at the mega-event, Andreeva ended
up taking home a more than decent chunk of £207,000.
While talking about that, the Krasnoyarsk-born revealed that
she does not have any plans to use that money and because of her age, her
parents will decide what.
“Me, for now, no, I don't have any plans,” she said. “Everything
just goes to my parents and they decide what to do with the money. Yeah, but
most of it I think will go to tennis, to the tickets, to pay for the coaches,
for everything. Maybe I will buy something to myself, but I'm not sure yet.”
Andreeva defeated China’s Wang Xiyu in her Wimbledon opener
with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 7-5. In the round of 64, she won the clash against Czech
Republic’s Barbora Krejcikova, courtesy of being awarded a walkover.
In the third round, Andreeva got the better of fellow
Russian player Anastasia Potapova in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 7-5.
