The WTA will travel to Abu Dhabi, UAE for the 2025 Abu Dhabi Open, which will run from February 3-8 with this year's edition set to feature a record prize money haul for the competitors.
A WTA 500 event, the Abu Dhabi Open was first held in 2021, not held in 2022 before returning to the tour last year. Several top-ranked players will compete at the event including Elena Rybakina who defends her title from 2024.
Last year's runner-up Daria Kasatkina will also return to Abu Dhabi. It was a superb year for Kasatkina winning two WTA 500 tournaments and reaching four finals at this level last year. In particular the 500 level has gleamed great success for her.
Paula Badosa also heads to Abu Dhabi as a top 10 player again after a semi-final in Australia. While Ons Jabeur who has been resurgent as of late will also return. Also involved are Jelena Ostapenko, Marketa Vondrousova as well as Caroline Garcia and Ashlyn Krueger with the latter three receiving wildcards.
With so many high-ranked players present, the prize money will see the winner walk away with $164,000. This is up from $142,000 last year. $101,000 and $59,000 will be set for the finalist and semi-finalist. While the winner will will walk away with 500 WTA ranking points.
