American tennis player Amanda Anisimova sees the funny side of
training with the former world number one Naomi Osaka ahead of the Australian
Open.
The first Grand Slam of the year is set to begin in less
than a week where players from all over the world will battle to get the
ultimate prize. Anisimova, in a post on the social media platform Instagram, saw
the funny side of training with Osaka ahead of the mega-event and posted a
picture with the caption: "Ugly faces are back. Thnx for the hit lol."
Anisimova is coming into the new season on the back of a rather
disappointing season where she missed three out of the four Grand Slams. She
only appeared in the Australian Open where she was knocked out after losing in
the first round to Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk in straight sets with a score of
6-3, 6-4.
Later in May last year, Anisimova, in a post on her official
Instagram account, announced that she would be taking an indefinite break from
the sport.
The season before 2023 was not great either where despite playing
in the main round of the all four Grand Slams, she managed to qualify for the
quarterfinal or beyond just once.
Her best outing came at
Wimbledon where she was knocked out after losing in the quarterfinal to the
former world number one Simona Halep in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-4.
